The Speckled Clay Shelf

Speckled clay with its brown base and black speckles of manganese creates an earthy, almost rural feel as the black specks show through the glaze. Many glazes work well with this clay and where the glaze and raw clay meet, there is often a darkening of the clay body which adds another dimension to that interplay. A bit rougher to the touch, there is an organic tactile nature to each piece.
