CELEBRATING THE ART OF HANDCRAFTED CERAMICS

Clay By Wendi is a Camarillo, California based ceramics shop that celebrates the art of handcrafted ceramics. I started producing work and finding success selling out of my garage/studio in 2022. I focus on creating handmade functional ceramics in a fairly wide range of shapes and functions. Every piece (except a few) are meant to be functional and used daily in your home.  I prefer clean lines, precise glaze borders, and mostly monochromatic glazes that allow both the glaze and the clay body to amplify the shape of the piece.  I produce pieces primarily on the wheel, but have several types of shapes that are hand built. All are glazed with food safe, microwave and dishwasher safe glazes.  I love to work closely with customers to create bespoke pieces or sets - it is a conversation between artist and client - exploring options, shapes and colors.  From rustic earthenware to contemporary presentation pieces, my studio embraces the full spectrum of functional ceramic art. I also showcase my pieces at multiple local pottery markets and am associated with the Ventura County Pottery Guild - participating in their events locally. 

I am self taught - a science teacher and now school administrator by trade, always learning and developing skills while refining my aesthetic. I experiment continually...trying new forms, clay bodies, glaze colors and techniques...ever evolving.
